Goodbye Miss America - - Hello Beautiful!!! (Deployment Project #121)

There truly wasn’t anything overly wrong with this chair before I re-upholstered it.  The fabric was in great condition.  And, for having a white background, it was also very clean.  In fact, this is the first chair that I have ever re-upholstered that I didn’t find popcorn in the chair when I took the old fabric off!!

The only thing wrong with this chair was her style.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I am a very patriotic lady, and so is my friend who is the proud owner of this chair.  But she was ready for a change.   We headed over to Joann's and perused their selection of fabrics - - we finally decided on this fabulous blue and cream fretwork fabric.

I absolutely loved working with this fabric!  It was the perfect weight, had the perfect amount of stretch, and it looks fabulous on the chair!  It is “Lovely Lattice” by Waverly.

That looks amazing - so much more modern! You are so great at upholstering...I'm terrified to try it for fear of completely ruining my chair =/

The chair turned out beautifully! It feels so much more of-the-moment with that Kelly-Wearstler-Imperial-Trellis-like print fabric by Waverly. Love it!

wow what a difference the fabric made in the look of that chair! just awesome. I have two similar chairs in my storage waiting to be re-done, and this was quite inspiring!

It is positively swoon-worthy! Lovely work.

I'll have you know that you have single-handedly inspired me to finish up the pair of wingbacks I started reupholstering 2 years ago. After a near fatal (snicker) plygrip accident, I'm back on the horse! Thanks for that. :)

She's a pretty one. I love the bright blue. So fun. You continue to amaze me. When I grow up I want to reupholster like you.

You did the most fabulous job in this chair. I love the blue fabric and it looks charming on this style chair.
Kudos to you! I'm off to see your other posts- I was hooked by the titles on your sidebar!
So glad I found you!

Wow! The chair looks great. You made an old style chair look quite contemporary.
I've been piddling in upholstery for over 15 years. I say piddle:I spent over $2000 on my Consew machine but I still haven't mastered sewing. I like all other aspects of the work though.
Thanks for sharing all your work!

Such a beautiful job on your chair! you will not believe this but I brought home a 'sample' of the exact fabric, from JoAnn's, just the other day.. now that I see it in it's glory I think I'm going to get it!
Wanted to say "Happy Memorial Day" and sending good vibes for your hubby to get home soon!
You have a beautiful family!

Hi there,
You do wonderful work. I looked through some of your tutorials. I did one on slipcovering and I thought I was going to die! I know you put soooo much into those posts and they are much appreciated. I'm covering a sofa right now. I hate upholstery. Iv'e found I'm not good at it. (hopefully my last one). I finally discovered slips, and glad I did! Maybe it's taking out all of those STAPLES! I commend you on your talents with the upholstery. You do amazing work. I'm emailing you right now.

I'm SO excited to have been introduced to your blog via Nester! A lady from my church has asked me to recover two wing chairs for her and I am kind of terrified. My mom and I recovered a loveseat earlier this year that turned out pretty well, but reupholstering for someone else is a whole new ballgame! I have a feeling I am going to rely heavily on your reupholstery tutes for backup!
